Highway Committee hears update on Ridge Road project
MORRIS — The Grundy County Animal Control|Highway|Transit Committee met Thursday and heard an update on the Ridge Road construction project. County Engineer Eric Gibson said that the project is on schedule to be completed in the fall of 2021. "D Construction is continuing its work paving on the south side of the railroad bridge," Gibson said. "They should be able to finish that work by the time the project is shut down for the winter. That will definitely make it easier for people that need to get in and out of the schools. "With the schools being closed for remote learning or only open for half a day, we were able to combine some parts of the project and get them done quicker. It's hard to say where we are as far as being on schedule right now, but everything looks like we should be able to finish by fall of 2021, which is when we projected it would be done." Gisbon said that work on the bridge will begin in the spring of 2021. The committee also approved a resolution for Gibson's salary to be $118,146, which is at 97% of IDOT recommendation for the position, and a 1-2% increase from last year. "It's a pretty standard bump," Gibson said. "Not anything out of the ordinary one way or the other." Also, the committee approved a salt contract with Cargill.
