Sunit Dhawan Tribune News Service Rohtak, June 28 The "ghost" guard scam, which came to the fore more than four years ago in the Post-graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), surfaced yet again when the Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS) decided to dismiss the then security officer and assistant security officer. Ghost guard scam On April 1, 2017, then security officers had apprised the PGIMS of irregularities in the appointment of guards It came to light that 103 of the 625 guards deployed on the PGIMS campus existed only on paper The ''missing'' guards were working at the office of the Haryana Board of School Education in Bhiwani The decision was taken at a meeting of the PGIMS executive council on Saturday. The two officers, who claim to be the whistleblowers in the case, face dismissal, but the security firm, which had defrauded the premier medical institute of a hefty amount, continues to evade action. On April 1, 2017, then security officer Badam Singh and assistant security officer Sanjay Sangwan had apprised the PGIMS of irregularities in the appointment of guards.
