I look forward to giant emotes in Twitch chats.

Starting this week, Twitch is going to let you add message effects and “gigantify” emotes with Twitch’s Bits currency. The effects promise make chats a little livelier, and I’m excited to see

CoolCat, but huge.

More signs point to stem-sporting Galaxy Buds 3.

Icons spotted on Samsung’s website show the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro headphones with AirPods-like stems — much like the leaked Galaxy Buds Pro 3 image posted by Evan Blass last week.

OpenAI’s business is booming.

The company is on track to make about $3.4 billion in revenue this year, which is about double what it brought in last year, according to a new report by The Information.

CEO Sam Altman reportedly told employees that $200 million of that revenue is the cut OpenAI gets from Microsoft selling its models through Azure. That means the vast majority of OpenAI’s revenue is coming from ChatGPT subscriptions and its own developer platform.

Soon you’ll be able to serve dinner on Poké Balls.

Le Creuset and Pokémon will release Pokémon-themed cookware in two drops starting in July. Le Creuset’s Pokémon Collection includes dishes that resemble Poké Balls, as well as colorful mugs, plates, rice bowls, and even a Cocotte cooking pot featuring characters like Pikachu.

Thankfully, there don’t appear to be pokémon in the pots.

The average price of DVDs and Blu-rays has gone up.

As reported by Consumer Affairs, data shows that the average price of “video discs and other media” reached $44.06 in April 2024, a 29 percent increase compared to last year.

That price may only continue to rise as stores like Best Buy and Target turn away from physical media. I guess I started raiding Walmart’s $5 DVD bin at the right time!

The Light Phone 3 is a little less light — but a lot more useful

Striking the right balance for a minimalist phone is hard, and sometimes a couple of new features can go a long way.

Ford poaches from Tesla, Rivian, Apple.

The Verge alum Sean O’Kane crunched the LinkedIn data to conclude that Ford’s secretive EV skunkworks has grown to over 300 employees, with 50 coming from Rivian alone. Ford has also poached workers from Tesla, Lucid, Canoo, F1, and Apple’s recently disbanded car project. The group, led ex-Tesla engineer Alan Clarke, is tasked with designing a lineup of low-cost EVs for the Blue Oval.

Terraform Labs agrees to pay $4.5 billion in settlement with the SEC.

The settlement will resolve the SEC’s lawsuit that accused the bankrupt crypto firm and its former CEO Do Kwon of securities fraud. In addition to the hefty penalty, the settlement bans Terraform Labs and Kwon from buying or selling crypto assets. Kwon is still awaiting extradition in Montenegro.

Netflix’s gaming boss is moving to another role at Netflix in gaming.

About three years after becoming VP of Netflix Games, Mike Verdu gave this statement to GamesIndustry.biz:

I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished, and excited to start a new team at Netflix on the cutting edge of game innovation.

He will apparently stay on as VP until a replacement is found and then work on “new technologies” (maybe something in the cloud?) in game development.

MKBHD interviewed Tim Cook.

Cook was, unsurprisingly, very on message, but he did acknowledge that AI can have its flaws (which he has said before).

Also, Cook talks about how the introduction of the Magic Mouse was an “incredible moment.”

We got Pixel Watch 3 XL leaks.

And it looks a lot like the Pixel Watch 3 leaks we saw the other day. Just bigger. How much bigger? Apparently the case will be 45mm, which as far as chonky smartwatches go isn’t that big. Even so, we love to see a bigger size option for folks with larger wrists — especially if that means a larger battery too.
