The 13th Anniversary of this very popular local sections event was held this year at Porters Park Golf Club on 12 September and proved to be another successful and hugely enjoyable glorious sunny day.

We had a full complement of 18 teams and 72 players participating in a shotgun start occupying the entire golf course. The organisers Steve Evans (Herts section) and Brian Parkes (London section) would like to thank all of this year’s companies sponsoring the prizes, participating companies and team participants. For the first time this year, we had a lady golfer Teresita Edjec playing for the Pepperl and Fuchs team.

Thanks go to Eaton Valves for sponsoring the bar and wine at table and to OGSL for providing the ‘goody bags’, to Alderley for sponsoring the individual first prize electric golf trolley, to Kin Tec Recruitment and Valve Solutions for sponsoring the individual second and third prizes, to Able Instruments for sponsoring the winning team prizes, to Kin Tec Recruitment and ABB for sponsoring the second and third team prizes, to Metso for sponsoring all four nearest the pin prizes, to Imtex Controls for sponsoring both the longest drive prizes, to Yokogawa Marex for sponsoring the best front nine prize, to Pepperl and Fuchs for sponsoring the best back nine prize and to ABB for sponsoring the best score on the four par three holes. Thanks also to Emerson for sponsoring the raffle prizes and to our helpers Henry Downes of Imtex Controls, C. D. Singh and Russell Baker of Honeywell.

Overall individual winner with 37 stableford points and the winner of a handsome trophy, a top of the range electric golf trolley, was Tom Sadler playing on the OGSL team. Second and third individual winners were Richard Granger with 35 stableford points and Mike Skelton with 34 stableford points both playing on the Imtex Controls team.

The winning team was OGSL with 96 points. Second and third team winners were Imtex Controls with 95 points and Yokogawa Marex with 93 points. Numerous other prize awards were presented for longest drives, nearest the pins and best of the par threes.

Photographs of the event will be included on the London/Herts local section websites together with the full list of sponsors, teams and players.

Next year’s event will be on Friday 18 September; details of the venue will be sent by the organisers early in 2015.
