Looks like the future is yet again around the corner. EHang (NASDAQ: EH), a pioneering Chinese company, is on the verge of gaining full certification for its passenger aircraft. And most curiously – fully autonomous aircraft. With the support of the certification body, an impressive record of 10,000 passenger flights have already been successfully completed. Electric-powered vertical lift was once again in focus yesterday evening, via RSIS | S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies' webinar supported by AAIS. The eVTOL frontrunners are aiming for airworthiness certifications from next year, and to launch commercial operations soon after, in conjunction with major events. There was consensus that this new mode of transport would take root from the late 2020s onwards, with new battery tech enabling greater payloads or longer ranges. Even as new tech is introduced, this has to done with attention to the priorities of safety and reliability. Some discussion ensued regarding the different approaches to certification by FAA and EASA, and the hope for harmonisation. Standardisation is also desirable for vertiport design and battery charging, to support different aircraft types. The gamechanger will be the introduction of autonomy and UTM. This will alleviate constraints such as the availability of pilots, and the ability to manage large numbers of air taxis operating in urban airspace. #Supernal LLC, #Hyundai Motor Group’s advanced air mobility (AAM) company – has entered into a strategic partnership with Korean Air to help accelerate the design of an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle and the development of the AAM ecosystem in South Korea. The collaboration adds to a growing list of Supernal partnerships that are advancing its mission to make AAM an efficient and reliable option for everyday transportation needs. The companies will engage in a variety of activities as part of the partnership, including exchanging technical data and jointly participating in workshops and programmes to help develop an AAM ecosystem that will support safe eVTOL operations. As part of the agreement, Korean Air will provide insights about South Korean-market requirements and AAM aircraft specifications, informing Supernal’s product and market development strategies. The companies will also explore ways to effectively test the operation of Supernal’s eVTOL vehicle and AAM infrastructure networks. The ways in which South Korea plans to operate AAM in the country highlight the importance of this partnership. Unique to South Korea, the South-Korean government plans to utilize 5G and LTE mobile communication capabilities to enable the seamless flow of information and communication by pilots. The government also plans to create dedicated AAM operating corridors separate from helicopters and other low-level airspace users. These corridors will be customised for safe and efficient flights between vertiports, maximizing the efficiency of AAM routes and minimizing any interaction between eVTOL and other aircraft types. As South #Korea ’s largest airline, Korean Air has been a key player in developing the country’s aviation industry and is expected to do the same for AAM, including by providing input to Supernal on passenger experience and operations. Elements that Supernal plans to develop as part of a global AAM ecosystem include aftermarket products and services, interconnected mobility solutions, physical and digital infrastructure networks and solutions for establishing and expanding an industry workforce. In February, AutoFlight presented the world’s first inter-city electric air taxi demonstration flight between the southern Chinese cities of Shenzhen and Zhuhai. AutoFlight’s Prosperity aircraft completed the significant milestone by #autonomous flying the 50km (31 miles) route from Shenzhen to Zhuhai. The flight across the Pearl River Delta took just 20 minutes, a journey that would require three hours by car. This achievement marks the world’s first public flight of an #eVTOL aircraft on a cross-sea and inter-city route. The route between Shenzhen and Zhuhai is part of the future air traffic scenario planned by the regional government as it develops its low-altitude economy strategy that will see the opening of thousands of vertiports and hundreds of eVTOL air routes across the Greater Bay Area in southern China. The demonstration flight took place in one of the world’s most densely populated areas, home to circa 86 million people, and in an airspace that borders multiple international airports, including #Hong Kong, #Shenzhen and #Macau. VONAER (Moviation Inc.), a South Korean Urban Air Mobility (UAM) service company based in Seoul, announced this week it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to introduce AutoFlight’s aircraft into South Korea, reports edaily.co.kr - 박석남광고국차장 (이데일리) . The initial aim is to purchase 20 Prosperity eVTOLs. The signing ceremony was held following AutoFlight’s Prosperity 1 flight demonstration in the skies over Shenzhen, China. Two aircraft flew in formation. Both succeeded in crossing the 55km section of the strait between Hong Kong and Macao in 20 minutes with low noise of 65db and stable flight while maintaining an altitude of 150m. Kellan Jai, Vice President of Autoflight, commented, “Korea is one of the most active countries in the UAM industry and through the collaboration with VONAER, we aim to contribute to this development by presenting a new service model.” Adding, “The objective is to seamlessly integrate the VONAER platform for UAM services.” Before AutoFlight’s commercial Type Certification, VONAER plans to establish an air taxi service MaaS platform utilising helicopters, with the intention of transitioning to certified eVTOL aircraft once the UAM service is established. Min Shin, CEO of VONAER, remarked, “Safety verification is the most important aspect and why I have been looking at AutoFlight’s aircraft, which has an excellent safety and maintenance record.” He continued, “Through this collaboration, we will develop a UAM aircraft operation management solution on our platform and prepare for global expansion.” Kellen Xie, VP of AutoFlight, added, “Our agreement with VONAER is a strategic move to pave the way for our entry into the Korean market.” Autoflight, based both in Germany and China, already possesses a production line capable of manufacturing various types of eVTOLs including drones, covering both passenger and cargo transportation. Its facility in Shanghai is capable of producing up to 1,000 aircraft a year. Autoflight aims to commence commercialisation following approval from the CAAC - Civil Aviation Administration of China for cargo transportation eVTOLs in the first half of this year. Prosperity 1 accommodates four passengers alongside one safety pilot and can travel up to 200 km/h, with a distance a range of 250km on a single charge. This article provides a good overview of the burgeoning Japanese AAM field. Unfortunately, the article is a bit confusing on the point that SkyDrive (SD-05 aircraft manufacturer) has been approved to participate in the Osaka Expo 2025 (associated article: https://lnkd.in/eT-NKtVM). This brings multiple players into the market and you can expect it to grow. The Japanese have always been very accepting of new technologies, and seem to find the fast approach to integrating them into their environment. Like much of the world, they are concerned with the environmental impact of carbon fueled vehicles. The need is great for UAM in the major Japanese cities and the geography is perfectly suited for RAM markets with mountainous regions separating major urban centers requiring hours of ground travel. With a large population, continued economical movement of cargo will be another driver in this region. ASKA claims its A5 is the world’s first flying car to start the type certification process with the Federal Aviation Administration. The Silicon Valley air mobility company’s prototype was awarded Certificate of Authorization (COA) and Special Airworthiness Certification by the FAA and has started flight testing. Since 2022 ASKA has performed successful ground testing and in Q1/2023 began conducting on-street driving tests. This Special Airworthiness Certificate signals that ASKA A5 has successfully met all FAA safety requirements, in compliance with applicable airworthiness, noise, fuel venting, and exhaust emissions standards. CEO and co-founder Guy Kaplinsky commented: “The data we are harvesting from flight testing is enabling us to make progress towards our type certification. We already completed the initial phase and are progressing towards our next milestone, G1 status.” G‑1 is a critical milestone in the FAA cross-validation process, establishing airworthiness and environmental requirements necessary to achieve FAA Type Certification Validation. There will be limit on number of shares to be bought by individuals and investor companies to avoid monopoly of any individuals and companies. The dividends on these shares will come from the transportation taxes collected from Dubai maritime transporters. Dubai Maritime Transpirt shares will be purchased online and they will also be traded at DFI with limit on number of shares purchased by people and companies. The objective of my idea is to: 1. Creater wider sources of investments in Dubai's infrastructure. 2. Generate greater funds to contribute to Dubai's progress. 3.
