This June, we’ll be lacing up ready to take on the Race for Life at London’s Battersea Park. The team will be donning their Vidett purples, as we raise money for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) – crucial to the ongoing battle against cancer. A huge thanks goes out to our friends at Standard Life UK, who kindly donated some of their spots for our team to take part… let’s do this! If you can spare any change, then please click below to donate to a fantastic cause. Thank you from all the team: Adam Taylor, Helen Beckinsale, James Duggan, Juliet Hall, Kevin Clark, Louise Webb, Luis Florez, Sam Swinerd. #Vidett #CancerResearch #RaceForLife #WeSupport #StandardLife

**Update 4** And we've reached 1500 press-ups - half way there. Thought they'd get easier but no chance. Drawing determination from your generosity. Total donations now at £420.00.. Let's do this. 💪👍 **Update 3** £350 donated. And we've smashed the £250 target. You are awesome🙌🎉🎊 , LinkedIn family. 935 press-ups done. Nearly a third of the way there. **Update 2** £110 donated. 300 press-ups done. Only 2700 more to go! **Update 1** £80 donated within 24 hours. That's brilliant - grateful to contributors. Let's smash that £250 🎯 2015 was the year I nearly met my maker. My medical team gave me 3 days. Haemoglobin counts were virtually non-existent, and white cell counts were through the roof. To soften the blow, they called it acute anaemia! Before that, I was fit, without any underlying health problems. With that news, critical moments in my relatively short time on earth flashed before my eyes. My 8-year-old was nearly left fatherless. Our very successful practice had grown exponentially and needed steering. My parents almost lost a son. I've not talked about this chapter of my life publicly, but since my diagnosis - it saddens me that 1 out of every 2 people I’ve met is either a survivor or has lost a loved one to this dreaded disease. I wish I could say that I’m cured. Unfortunately, I cannot. What’s keeping me alive is exceptional cancer research and the work of brilliant researchers. Many like me wouldn't be here to tell the tale without their groundbreaking work. During November, I won't be growing a tash, I won’t be running 10k, I won’t be on a spiritual retreat (these are all brilliant causes, too) - I will be doing 100 press-ups every day. That's 3,000 in the month of November. Whilst I push the envelope, hoping that my creaky joints and muscles can take the strain, your kind donations to #cancerresearchuk will go a long way in helping humanity. Are you in? #ImIn #beatcancer #weareone

Countdown to Impact: 5 Days Left in the April Head and Neck Cancer Alliance Move-a-thon 🏃♀️🙏 As the sun sets on this pivotal month, our shared journey of compassion and support takes on a more urgent pace. There are just 5 days left to contribute to a cause that’s much more than a statistic; it's a lifeline for those battling head and neck cancer. I set out with an ambition – a concise, yet significant goal of raising $150 through the Move-a-thon. This sum symbolizes hope – the equivalent of a night at a hotel for a travelling patient or easing the burden covering some essentials on treatment day. Each donation is a beacon of comfort, providing essentials like a gas card, parking, lunch, and sometimes the priceless gift of child care. While the road ahead is paved with possibility, the present moment reflects a challenging truth. I currently stand at 83% of my fundraising target. "The distance between where we are and where we aspire to be is measured not in miles but in moments of generosity." I humbly ask you to consider the value of your daily coffee – could it instead fund a gesture of immense value? A few dollars could mean the world to someone enduring the most challenging fight of their life. Together, we can fill these last few days with action and purpose. Let's rally to offer more than just relief; let’s provide a sanctuary of support for at least one patient in need. To donate, simply click on the link https://lnkd.in/e_d95i2c Your contribution, no matter the size, will weave into the tapestry of someone’s survival story. Let's make these remaining days count! Thank you for standing with me, for them. #HeadAndNeckCancer #HNCA #Moveathon #Support #Donate #CancerCare #MakeADifference

Well, this isn’t exactly work related but I’ll show you how it can be at the end of the post: I’m cycling to raise money to help fight children’s cancer. This fundraiser goes on from September 1st to the end of September but I wanted to go ahead and share this in case anyone is interested in donating. Here’s the deets: cancer takes 38 children each day. Many of my friends are parents, so I’m sure you all can understand how heartbreaking a cancer diagnosis is on a family, especially for a child. Money raised here is for the Children's Cancer Research Fund which creates safer treatments, improves outcomes for kids, and supports the whole family as we strive to end childhood cancer. Children's Cancer Research Fund is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Tax ID Number 41-1893645. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent permissible by law. How this works for me: I’m cycling on my bike. I’m going to be wearing some GCC (this event) swag to help spread awareness. I am also committing to cycling at least 100 miles in September to help spread awareness. If we pass my donation goal, I will add 1 mile for every additional dollar donated (it just might take me longer than September to make it happen, endurance is not my strong suit). Here’s how this relates to you and your job: a lot of employers will match donations, some up to certain amount, others indefinitely. If you’ve ever wanted to change someone’s life, this is your opportunity and your employer might make it even easier for you to do so by matching your donation. Additionally, US citizens should be able to deduct this donation off their taxes, too. Here’s a link to donate (it would mean a lot to me): https://lnkd.in/gP6CcM8m
