Last fall, I had the opportunity to participate in the inaugural Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Kenya where world leaders discussed the role of sustainability investment, technology, and innovation in Africa. I left with optimism and a sense of possibility about the role a company like Microsoft can play in advancing this important work, including the role AI can play as an accelerant for these solutions. Today, we are turning these possibilities into reality in several ways including expanding the AI for Good Lab in the region and investing in innovative solutions through our Climate Innovation Fund. Read more about our commitment to innovation on the African continent, and solutions we’re spurring to address the climate crisis in my latest blog: https://lnkd.in/gnP_PryH

I've been covering laptops—Windows and Macs—for a long time. Today's Microsoft announcement about Copilot+ PCs is one of the most exciting in years. Last week, I got an early look at the new Qualcomm-powered Surface devices, which should finally rival MacBooks on battery life and performance. Hey, Satya Nadella even told me he hasn't heard the fan go on yet in his Surface Laptop. He also said Microsoft finally has a "competitive product" to the Mac. "We're going to outperform them!" Every year I look forward to #MSBuild and seeing how our news will resonate with those that are building AI solutions with our tools. One of the challenges across all the keynotes is finding descriptive ways to help people understand the scope of what we are doing; I loved the way Kevin Scott used sea creatures to showcase the scale of the new computing systems we're putting into the world. Three key themes that stood out to me from the day 1 keynotes: 1. Customizable solutions, offering stronger and more directly impactful updates to our Copilot stack. 2. Secure foundations, which are critical to building trust and ensuring we live up to our security standards. 3. Real world application, through our customers and new Copilot “agent” experiences. And of course, all of it builds (pun intended) on the news yesterday about Windows and the new AI infused PCs.
