The release of ceramics is an undesirable event, one of the causes is the presence of trapped air which causes the area attached to the wall to decrease. To reduce this, additional ingredients / smaller silica fume additives (<1μm) can be used to fill the hollow part. The purpose of this study was to measure and compare the properties of ceramic adhesives with and without the addition of silica fume to ceramic adhesives, and to determine the percentage of addition of silica fume to obtain the most optimal adhesive strength. The method used is an experimental method in the laboratory by conducting tests of ceramic adhesion based on ASTM C 482-02 and SNI 03-4877-1998. The level of addition of silica fume used is 5, 10, 15, and 20% of the weight of cement. The test results show that there is a "very strong" relationship between the addition of silica fume and ceramic adhesive properties in increasing the strength of the adhesive power as evidenced by correlation analysis w...

Big Data Driven Decision Making Model: A case of the South African banking sector2021 •
The quest to develop a Big Data Driven Decision Making framework to support the incorporation of big data analytics into the decision-making process resulted in the development of a decision making model. The study was conducted within the banking sector of South Africa, with participants from three leading South African banking institutions. The conducted research followed the design science research process of awareness, suggestion, development, evaluation and conclusion. This study developed a theoretical Big Data Driven Decision Making model which illustrates the decision-making process in banking using big data. The study further determined the organizational supports that need to be in place to support the big data analytics decision-making process.

Circadian rhythms enable organisms to synchronise the processes underpinning survival and reproduction to anticipate daily changes in the external environment. Recent work shows that daily (circadian) rhythms also enable parasites to maximise fitness in the context of ecological interactions with their hosts. Because parasite rhythms matter for their fitness, understanding how they are regulated could lead to innovative ways to reduce the severity and spread of diseases. Here, we examine how host circadian rhythms influence rhythms in the asexual replication of malaria parasites. Asexual replication is responsible for the severity of malaria and fuels transmission of the disease, yet, how parasite rhythms are driven remains a mystery. We perturbed feeding rhythms of hosts by 12 hours (i.e. diurnal feeding in nocturnal mice) to desynchronise the host's peripheral oscillators from the central, light-entrained oscillator in the brain and their rhythmic outputs. We demonstrate that ...

The paperexamines the attitude to uncertainty and risk withinthe Russian model of management by A.P. Prokhorov. It is shown that the attitudeis determined by the dual nature of this model. The Russian managementsystem in itsmobilization phase easily copes with the uncertainty and allows risky decisions. In the stable phase, the Russian model rejects risk, and security, understood as maintaining the achieved state, becomes a priority. A risky situation is a type of uncertain one when the occurrence of possible events is probable and can be estimated. In this situation, it is possible to assess the likelihood of events resulting from the influence of the natural environment, the actions of partners, opponents, etc., which cannot be done in a situationof uncertainty, and this is thekey factor that distinguishes between risk and uncertainty. Wedefine risk as an integral indicator that combines assessments of both the probabilities of implementing a solution and the quantitative characte...
