A Kerala court has convicted Shyamjith for the murder of Vishnupriya on October 22, 2022, at her residence in Panoor, Kannur District. His actions were prompted by her decision to end their relationship and decline his marriage proposal.

Additional District Judge I, Thalaserry, A V Mridula found Shyamjith guilty of murder. The quantum of the sentence will be pronounced on Monday by the Court.

Shyamjith entered the victim's house after making sure that no one was in the house and stabbed her multiple times using a knife and hammer to commit the murder.  It was reported that Shyamijith had no remorse towards his actions and had declared that he had lost nothing in his life by committing the murder.

As per the prosecution case, Shyamjith wanted to seek revenge since the victim broke up with him. It was argued that Shyamjith was monitoring the victim and her surroundings to commit the murder when no one else was present at home. Shyamjith had planned and brutally executed the murder as per the prosecution.

He was accused of offences under Section 449 (House trespass to commit offence) and Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
