I use mine to make organic walnut butter. It takes about a minute, is absolutely fresh, is about half the cost of buying ready-made, and eliminates packaging (normally glass jar + lid). Ingredients: organic walnuts. That's it. 3 pulls yields chopped nuts, but for my purposes I give it 30 pulls to yield a nice fine texture about like brown sugar. I store my "walnut dust" in a reusable container in the fridge. At breakfast, I drizzle olive oil on toast, then put a spoonful of my walnut dust on the bread and spread it around with the back of the spoon. Tastes great as is, or top it with cinnamon. At first I assumed I'd add some oil to make the consistency more like peanut butter (which you can do by adding an oil of your choice), but I prefer the mealy dust consistency for simplicity's sake: faster to make, no mess to clean up, easier to store, zero waste.
New topic: I routinely make one dish skillet meals using half a dozen or so different veggies, and I initially bought this hoping to speed up veggie prep, but I wasn't thrilled with the results for that purpose. Within the first few pulls, you end up with partly pureed mush and partly unchopped pieces. If you keep pulling to make the big pieces smaller, you end up with ever more mush...more like a smoothie. Cooked veggie smoothie anyone? Exactly. So I'd recommend using this for things you want to puree...salad dressings, marinades, sauces, dessert toppings, guacamole...and of course it's great for chopping nuts. For veggies though, I went back to using a knife. (Feb. 2019 update: for veggies & hard fruits like apples, I've been using, and recommend, Presto 02970 Professional SaladShooter Electric Slicer/Shredder. I use it every day.)
Would definitely buy again. Has paid for itself many times over.

Minces garlic cloves evenly!!!
I've used several food choppers before, different brands and sizes. I'm not a fan of food choppers in general because I find that I almost always have to remove the lid and "mix" things up with a spatula to make sure that everything gets chopped.So, I wasn't expecting a lot from this manual food chopper. I thought that the only major advantage of this Zyliss chopper would be that I wouldn't need to be near an electric outlet to use it. To my surprise, I found that the feature I liked the best was that it has a bottom booster arm. I chopped half an onion with 5 pulls. I didn't have any large onion trapped, underneath the bottom blade, that didn't get chopped. I then minced (12 pulls) just 3 cloves of garlic and they got minced without needing to "mix/stir" with a spatula!!! Normally, I wouldn't be able to chop, let alone mince, just a few garlic cloves in a food chopper. Normally, a clove of garlic would just stay at the bottom, unchopped/unminced.I'm impressed.The pull is also, surprisingly, very easy to pull.-------Things I don't like:1.The bottom booster arm is not that easy to pull off.When I received this item, the bottom booster arm was already attached to the cutting rotor. The instruction manual simply said "Remove the cutting rotor from the protective cover". It didn't say how to remove the bottom booster arm. So, I went back to Amazon where there seemed to be more info from the product listing and reviews - "Pull Off Bottom Booster Arm And Slide Cover Down." Some reviewers wrote that they had to gently pry off the bottom booster arm.I did try pulling at first but the booster arm wouldn't come off. It's plastic so I really didn't want to just pull on the plastic arm. I also had no success pulling just the round part (that attaches the plastic arm to the rotor) with my fingers. That thing was stuck pretty tight. So I had to use my watch case knife, sharp/thin edge first, to slightly separate the bottom booster arm and then I switched to using the knife's blunt edge to increase the gap before I was able to pull off the booster arm with my fingers. I'm not planning to put the bottom booster arm back.2.The underside of the lid has screws. I would have preferred a lid that's seamless, no joints, no microgaps where liquid/moisture can enter. Even better would be a separate removeable inner lid.I have an electric food chopper that has a separate removable inner lid. It keeps the top of the food chopper from having any contact with food that can get thrown towards it during the chopping process.

I cook a lot. I'm always chopping vegetables and I hate it. I also have carpal tunnel so all that time chopping really takes a toll on my hands. This little chopper is amazing! I used it tonight for the first time to make chilli. In my chilli, I wanted to sneak in some veggies as my family don't eat enough. I chopped some mushrooms very finely and cauliflower (sounds weird, but it works). The vegetable pieces were so small that once they were in the chilli and left to simmer for a bit, they disappeared. My husband HATES cauliflower - detests it and he didn't even notice them in the chilli. I also used leftover cauliflower to make cauliflower rice and it was so easy compared to me trying to chop it up with a knife.
The best part of my meal? Making guacamole. In the past, I've had to dice the tomatoes really small and even then, my child would pick them out. This time, I used the chopper to cut up the tomatoes til they were almost a sauce and then added lemon juice and avocado. The consistency was so good and delicious. My daughter loved it.
I can see myself having a very happy life with this little chopper and will use it for sauces, smoothies and maybe even baking (e.g grinding nuts or oats)
