We don't talk about death enough, which means we don't plan our death at all, and we should. It's totally unfair to leave important pre and post death decisions for friends and family to make in a sudden rush whilst they're grieving. I have pretty firm ideas about what I want, and I've realised the only way to make sure these happen is to research, plan and write them down, which also removes the burden from those I love. This book is one of a couple I've purchased to this end, and it contains some really useful pointers on planning a non religious funeral, choosing format, readings, etc. Definitely recommend as a basic starting point for self planning, simply or understanding how a humanist funeral works

I really wanted to find out where you could have an alternative way of burying, i.e in a burning boat, a funeral pyre, red indian burial etc, so not really want I wanted

Clearly written with useful information. This is just what's needed to help you arrange a non-religious but meaningful funeral.
