Hearings inspired by those at the U.S. Congress are being held, with the first session on My 9 focusing on students. All the invited student witnesses hold or recently held positions in pro-Israel advocacy organizations, and the discussion focused largely on pro-Palestinian protest, including encampments. The group Independent Jewish Voices called it a “sham hearing.” We look at who was there, who wasn’t, what was said, how media reported it, and the implications for freedom of expression, fighting antisemitism, and the pro-Palestine movement.
