Public services, from energy and education to health care, should be high-quality and accessible to all regardless of language or ability, so that no one is left behind. But digital services offered by governments often disappoint, with complex and unfriendly interfaces that make users enter the same data at multiple touchpoints, leaving people frustrated and distrustful. Leaders are turning to technologies such as generative AI to improve services by making them more efficient, user-friendly and supportive.

Generative AI can streamline processes, make interfaces more intuitive and enhance access to services. At the same time, automating routine tasks makes organisations more productive, resulting in happier workers and citizens. Using technology and innovative applications to connect different parts of an organisation can also speed up service, letting people resolve issues in a single visit to a website.

While the private sector offers many examples of effective digital transformation, public service providers can struggle with limited funds, legacy systems and bureaucratic hurdles. These challenges must be navigated while protecting sensitive data and addressing public scrutiny.

Agenda

Programmed by Economist Impact and sponsored by ServiceNow, join us online to hear an expert panel share how generative AI can transform the user experience for public-sector organisations, and provide answers to:

  • In the essential work of improving access to public services, how can generative AI best be used to improve the citizen experience?
  • What lessons can governments learn from their peers abroad, and from businesses?
  • How can the public sector maximise the transformative value of generative AI while ensuring safety and minimising the risks and costs?
  • Is it possible to move from legacy systems without disrupting services?
  • How can silos be removed and red tape cut to make information flow more smoothly?
  • And how can organisations engage effectively with members of the public to build the user experience around their needs?
