Abstract

CARSTENS, WAM. Reconciliation in the Afrikaans community: Magic wand or choice?. Tydskr. geesteswet. [online]. 2023, vol.63, n.4, pp.996-1007. ISSN 2224-7912.  http://dx.doi.org/10.17159/2224-7912/2023/v63n4a13.

Reconciliation is an easily used term, but people don't always understand what it actually entails. This is precisely because reconciliation is the result of a particular process; it is necessary to understand what it involves if you want to follow this route. In this overview article, this will be done briefly and then illuminated with the background to the establishment of the Afrikaanse Taalraad, a body founded in 2008 following a reconciliation process in the Afrikaans language community. Reconciliation always involves a managed process that should lead to a product.
