Not that 475 feet isn't a lot, but honestly I was quite suprised by how small this ball of twine is. I did not measure it, but I have no reason to doubt that it is actually right around 475 feet so I have no real complaint there. I was sceptical buying this product because there were no reviews speaking to its outdoor qualities. Thus far it has exceeded my expectations for holding up some fairly heavy climbing rose stems. I say heavy because we are about 6 month later than we should have been tieing up the stems so they have grown long and have large rose bundles on them. This 10-ply string appears to hold true and after a couple months has not failed on any of the stems we have tied up.

Pros:
+Strong and durable outside
+Lots of string in a little package

Overall, five stars as I do not have a complaint about the item yet.

This simple cotton string is just what I was looking for. It is nice to have on hand. I rewound it onto a spool holder and keep it handy in the kitchen. For what you ask? When string is at hand, you find many uses...like when I want that used pizza box to stay folded up into the smallest square I can make, I tie it with a length of string. This allows the box to fit into my trach bag with out snagging and puncturing__just one tiny irritation out of my life. If you really love that "brown-paper-package and string" look, you might find a heavier ply.

Although this string is a pretty small gauge, I find that (surprisingly) its break strength is much greater than the usual thicker offering - plenty strong for bundling up a big stack of newspapers or trussing up a chicken. This accounts for the relatively small size of the ball, but at 475', you get a lot more - and stronger - string than what you'll find at the supermarket. Works for me....

That twine is alas all gone, and the local store where I bought it, has gone out of business.
