RCB clinched their fifth consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League 2024 by defeating DC with a commanding 47-run lead at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Their aggressive approach made all the difference, as they dominated both with the bat and the ball. RCB's relentless performance kept them firmly in the playoff contention this season, showcasing their determination and skill on the field.
Following the game, Mohammed Siraj was questioned about the team's strategy against DC, but his response took an unexpected turn, drawing laughter from Virat Kohli and Karn Sharma. Siraj's explanation of the game plan was so peculiar that it prompted a burst of laughter from his teammates, adding a light-hearted moment to the post-match interviews.
"Qualification is not in our control, we are focusing on the match in hand. What's in the match? The fast bowler has a ball in his hands, the batter has a bat in his hands, all we have to do is attack. If we qualify then great, if not, this is the brand of cricket that we will continue," Mohammed Siraj said.
After hearing Siraj's unconventional explanation, Virat Kohli joined in with a playful remark, suggesting that Siraj's perspective was a typical fast bowler's mindset.
"What is this? (laughs). Batsman has bat, bowler has ball (laughs). Say that you only see the stumps," Kohli said in the video.
The victory propelled RCB to 5th place on the points table, a remarkable turnaround considering their earlier struggles at the bottom of the rankings. Rajat Patidar's half-century, coupled with a disciplined display by the RCB bowlers, secured the win as DC paid the price for their mistakes.
RCB's final group stage match of the tournament is against CSK, to be played at home. Should RCB secure a substantial victory margin of 18 runs or more, they will improve their Net Run Rate (NRR) over CSK's, potentially securing their spot in the playoffs.
