Granity is on the coast, between forest-covered hills and the sea. Granity and the two small adjacent villages of Ngakawau and Hector have 3 cafes, a very small grocery shop, 2 hostels, 2 pubs, a craft shop, a gallery ... all the essentials!

The Auckland Museum is about 10 mins mainly flat walk. The Parnell Rose Gardens about the same. The quaint Parnell Village including about 35 restaurants & Cafes is just 200 metres. The Auckland waterfront is a short bus ride - 10 mins on the Link Bus. The CBD is about the same.
