Investigation of Factors Influencing the Monetary Value of Counseling Services

Abstract

The researchers used the contingent valuation method to estimate the monetary value of counseling services. Socio-demographic and psychological variables influencing willingness to pay for counseling services were identified for three types of major counseling issues: mental health, interpersonal, and job stress. Results indicate people would more likely be willing to pay when they have a mental health problem rather than interpersonal or job problems. Expectations for counseling success constantly influenced the monetary value of counseling.
