Case of the Day
Medial tibial stress syndrome (bone scan)
Contributed by Kevin Banks
Medial tibial stress syndrome is also known as shin splints. It is a spectrum of stress injury that typically occurs in the mid-to-distal tibia. It is often bilateral and occurs prior to the development of a stress fracture.
As in this case, radiographs are insensitive and typically normal.
