Our brilliant Senior Creative Producer Nehanda Roberts is taking part in Creative Lives in Progress' 'What is Project Management' event this evening. We asked Nehanda to share some insight into what she does and what inspires her: How would you describe what you do? As a Senior Creative Producer, my role is multifaceted, blending project management, account management, and a hefty dose of optimism. Recently, I’ve transitioned into a more creative role, involving myself in ideation and creative direction. For example, I was the creative lead on our latest project for Escentric Molecules where I developed the creative treatment, assembled the right team, and provided ongoing creative feedback. What did you study and where? Despite my current career, I studied Law at the University of Portsmouth. While it might seem unrelated, the rigorous work ethic and organisational skills I developed during my studies have been incredibly transferable to my role in the creative industry. What inspired you to get into your industry? I've always been a creative person, but I didn't initially see a clear path into the industry due to a lack of connections and visibility. My perspective changed when I met my friend's brother, Nathan Fushia, a fashion photographer and a graduate of the London College of Fashion. He showed me that a career in the creative field was possible. After finishing my law degree, I worked at a restaurant run by an Art Director from a motion design studio. I took a chance and asked for a project manager position at the studio, which was very cheeky of me, but I landed the job, and the rest is history. Always remember, if you don’t ask, you don’t get. What do you love most about your job? The best part of my job is the incredible and talented people I work with. They inspire me daily, encourage me to learn more and experiment with new ideas. I also love the opportunities that are available at wearesenteen - since the beginning of my career here I've always been encouraged and pushed to strive for more and be the best I possibly can be. I also enjoy the diversity of projects I get to tackle. Each one presents unique challenges, keeping me on my toes and ensuring that I am constantly learning and evolving. What are your biggest creative or cultural inspirations? Black culture, music, and people are my greatest inspirations - we are at the heart of many global trends and phenomena. Recently, I've been particularly inspired by artists and creatives like Basquiat, Telfar Clemens, Campbell Addy, Donald Glover, Little Simz, and Tyler Mitchell. Their work and vision continue to influence and motivate me. Photos by Dann Emmons
