The PhD Thesis comprises of introduction, five chapters and conclusion. The object of study is Flavius’ Jewish War in the Archivskij Chronograph.
A model of morphological characteristic of the translation is presented. Special attention is paid to the complex numerals with the preposition kъ.
As a part of lexical analysis emphasis is put on rare and archaic words. In the corresponding chapter 161 lexical items are presented – 86 of them are considered of East Slavonic origin, and 75 rare items. A total number of 41 out of all analyzed items are hapax legomena, and another 35 are of East Slavonic origin.
The general frame of the PhD Thesis puts the Jewish War in the system of archaic praeimages, predicting ascending of Bulgarian Tzar Simeon on the throne of the Ecumenic rulers. Realization of this ideological pattern on a macro level is embedded in the prophecies that are part of the text of book Kings in Archivskij Chronograph, in the Heading of Grigorij, in the gloss concerning Achilles and Myrmidons-Bulgarians from John Malala, as well as the gloss about the Dacian-Bulgarians part of the Flavius’ JW, and in the complete text of the latter as a prototype of Byzantine society from the beginning of the tenth century.
Based on the embedded in the text ideological scheme, and on the lexical analysis it is suggested that despite of the high degree of Russification, the initial version of the translation could be ascribed to be originated in Bulgaria during the ruling of Tzar Simeon.
