Preserve the Heritage – Educate the Future
About us
AHF was established in 1983 as a member-based, charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We seek to educate future Americans to fully appreciate the sacrifices that generations of American Soldiers have made to safeguard the freedoms of this nation. Our funding helps to refurbish historical Army buildings, acquire and conserve Army historical art and artifacts, support Army history educational programs, research, and publication of historical materials on the American Soldier, and provide support and counsel to private and governmental organizations committed to the same goals. Two different Memorandums of Agreement with the Army (2009 and 2015) designated AHF as the official fundraisers for the National Museum of the United States Army. The 2015 MOA also turned over the construction and completion of the design to AHF. The Capital Campaign is committed to raising $200 million to build the Museum

On Saturday May 4th, the Army Historical Foundation and Central Virginia Battlefields Trust partnered on a Battle Ride to Spotsylvania Court House. Participants got to hear from multiple experts, Civil War artifact collectors, and reenactors; learn about different equipment and firearms that included a firing demonstration; and hiked through the events that occurred 160 years ago at the battle for the Mule Shoe Salient. Learn more about the Foundation and upcoming programs at www.armyhistory.org and to learn more about the Central Virginia Battlefields Trust, please check out their website at https://www.cvbt.org/. #ArmyHistory #army #civilwar #civilwarhistory #spotsylvaniavirginia #militaryhistory

As a son from the Greatest Generation who did not hesitate to defend this nation when needed, when the opportunity came for me to become a sponsor of the Museum, I said yes. To honor not only my father, CPL Cyril S. Hartmann, 1108th AAF Base Unit, but all men and women who have fought for the freedom of this country. The National Museum of the United States Army keeps their stories alive. As you walk through the Museum and see the displays of the equipment used to help them in their mission, it was and still is to this day a testament of the courage they had to do what they had to do. I am so proud of you Dad and proud of all the veterans of our U.S. of A. ~Wayne T. Our next Black History Month Honoree is Charles Young. Young graduated from West Point in 1884, served in the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments as a "Buffalo Soldier" and became a superintendent at the Sequoia and General Grant National Parks. He was the first black man to become a Colonel in the army, enduring racial discrimination throughout his life. Young died on January 8th, 1922. In 2022, Young was posthumously promoted to Brigadier General. #BlackHistoryMonth #blackhistory #USArmy #SoldierStory Visit our online history center: https://lnkd.in/e4DK76dS.
