About

WELCOME!

The goal of this blog is to provide readers commentary from a Christian perspective on religious, political, and social issues.

The prayers, meditations, and articles you will find here are the result of my involvement with poverty law.  I met broken men and women, the homeless and unemployed, single mothers struggling to make ends meet, immigrants seeking asylum, young men wrestling with fatherhood, women with incarcerated husbands, and mothers of incarcerated (or deceased) sons.

The experience changed my life.  This blog is my response.  As my understanding of poverty has deepened over the years, the blog has evolved to cover a broad range of topics that find their way into my prayers.

My hope is that readers will be engaged, encouraged, and inspired.

We need not strive for poetic language or wait on some elusive moment when we are sufficiently “worthy” to address the Lord.  That language is unnecessary; that moment will never come.  God desires only that we seek Him out.

    • Thank you for this nomination! Due to family illness, it has taken me awhile to respond. I am still making my list of recommended blogs (so many great choices) but, please, consider yours one. As Christians, we serve a vital role in society. Our lives are to point others toward Christ. Often, we are the voice of conscience. Above all, we are to love others. I look forward to more of your writing!

      Blessings,

      A.

  9. Anna I am so glad I found your blog or should I say your blog found me. I am truly inspired by your post and you sincere heart for God’s people. It is a love that I share, I do believe that when Jesus asked Peter, “Peter do you love me?” and instructed Peter “Feed my sheep”, this is what he had in mind. f we truly love him we are to ‘feed his sheep”,to love those that are hurting and in need of emotional and spiritual healing. I sense from you post as a” poverty lawyer” you have truly embraced his instruction.

Be blessed and continue to bless others with your post..

    • Thank you for your kind words. I very much appreciate the encouragement. I do what little I can, and trust God for the rest. ❤

Anna, your childhood was shattered, inocence stolen from such a sweet child. I never knew the horror you endured. I love you my cousin.God bless you for all you do for others.

    • Rosemarie, how wonderful to hear from you! Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. I love you, too. ❤

  11. Anna, I was wondering if you would consider covering a subject near and dear to my heart– the financial abuse of unpaid child support. Arrears nationally are now over $115 BILLION dollars. This is insane! In one state- Texas, arrears are over $14 Billion with 48% of single mothers and 17% of single fathers living below the poverty line. This translates to 100% of those children. Again, insane! Children are not throw away toys or pets to be re-homed. They are a lifelong commitment and even if the marriage fell in this sinful world, it’s not the kids fault and they are paying a dear price. http://alanakhaase.com/collateral-damage/
    Thank you!

  18. An excellent blog!! Really!! I hadn’t realised that you had two, so, have been enjoying catching-up on the posts here!

  19. I admire you for your engagement, it is necessary to have more of those people. I also met a lot of people with great problems, unable to help themselves. That is the reason why I am engaged in several projects to help a little bit at least some of them.
I wish you all the best Marie

  20. Just wondering where you have been since September, 2021? Missing your blogs.
    ❤️&🙏, c.a.

    • Thank you for asking. Family issues, health, and other concerns have taken precedence. I hope to return when life settles down again. ❤

      • We’ll all be looking forward to seeing your blogs again. ❤️&🙏 c.a.

  21. I don’t see how to follow in wordpress.

    • Thank you for your interest. On the right hand side of the homepage (below the series of words from which a topical selection can be made) is what looks like a button labeled “Follow”. Enter your email address where indicated in the box above that button, then hit “Follow”. Hopefully, that should work for you. If not, please, let me know so that I can get WordPress to remedy the problem.
