If you’re someone who wants your child to have a well-rounded personality, then you will need to learn to come to terms with the fact that they will be different individuals than you with distinct views, likes, dislikes, among other things.

Understand that your child is going to have a personality of their own

A lot of parents make the mistake of thinking that their children are an extension of them. However, if you truly want your child to have a personality and voice of their own, then you need to be okay even if they don't think like you, dress like you, speak like you and behave like you. Only then your child will truly be able to come into their own.

Never put pressure on them of any kind

Parents must never put any stipulations or pressure on their children of any kind. They must be okay with their children choosing whatever career path they want to take up and making any other life's decisions. This will make your child feel more empowered in life in every which way.

Let them know you will always have their back

Parents must give assurances to their child from time to time that they will have their back come what may. They will not only strengthen the bond between the two, but will also make a child feel more confident in navigating through life's up and downs.

Encourage them to explore new things

When growing up, encourage your child to explore new things and have a variety of experiences. This will help add new dimensions to their personality. It will also broaden their horizon and their ability to think bigger in life.

Be their confidante

Children who have confidantes in their parents are always more confident and self-assured of themselves. They feel safe in the knowledge that their parent will them out in every situation without any biases or judgement. This knowledge alone can boost their mood in a major way.
