Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja created history on Friday (May 10) during CSK’s IPL 2024 match against the Gujarat Titans by becoming the first Indian cricketer in history to score 2000 runs and take 100 wickets for one team in T20s. Jadeja, who joined CSK in the IPL 2012 auction, has 2006 runs and 142 wickets to his name in 184 matches. He has dismissed 133 batters and scored 1850 runs in 170 IPL matches for the Men in Yellow, and in 14 Champions League matches, he scored 156 runs, besides accounting for the dismissal of nine batters for CSK.

Only two cricketers apart from Jadeja have managed to score 2000 runs and pick up 100 wickets for one team in T20s, and they are none other than star West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell and legendary Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan.

While Shakib has scored 2383 runs and picked up 144 wickets in 118 T20Is for Bangladesh, Russell achieved the feat for KKR. The 36-year-old Russell, who joined the Kolkata-based franchise in the IPL 2014 auction, has 2467 runs and 110 wickets to his name in 122 matches.

He scored 65 runs and picked up two wickets in six Champions League matches and has 2402 runs and 108 wickets in 116 IPL matches for the Shah Rukh Khan-owned team.

Legendary West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo played in 130 T20 matches for CSK and scored 1280 runs. He also dismissed 154 batters. Sunil Narine has 1508 runs and 195 wickets to his name in 182 T20s for KKR.

CSK lose by 35 runs

In the IPL 2024 match played between CSK and GT in Ahmedabad on Friday, the Shubman Gill-led side beat Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. by 35 runs to keep their hopes alive of reaching the playoffs. For the hosts, Gill and his opening partner Sai Sudharsan scored centuries and added 210 runs for the first wicket to help them post a total of 231 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets.

Despite achieving a massive personal milestone for CSK, it was a forgetful day for Jadeja. He conceded 29 runs in his quota of two overs and then was only able to score 18 runs from 10 balls.
