Very Exciting News: MeMed BV just received US FDA clearance for next generation direct from whole blood testing! FDA clearance of this pioneering technology means a much simpler workflow to finding out whether a patient has a bacterial or viral infection, and whether or not to treat with antibiotics. No preprocessing of the blood, no spinning and no clotting required. What's more, the entire process is much faster providing results within minutes. The new technology enables broader patient access in decentralized settings where minimal handling and maintenance are essential, and where the burden of inappropriate antibiotics treatment is significant. Also, the technological advancements here cannot be underestimated. The ability to accurately measure multiple proteins present in extremely low concentrations directly from a small volume of whole blood, all within minutes, makes looking for a needle in a haystack seem like child’s play – but after several years of hard work, blood, sweat and blood we did it.
