Peterborough earned a second successive promotion as they secured Championship football with a 1-0 win over Colchester as rivals MK Dons lost to Walsall.

Posh started brightly and Charlie Lee, Simon Hackney and Chris Whelpdale all threatened to open the scoring.

It was Lee who made the breakthrough, blasting into the top corner after George Boyd picked him out in the area.

Craig Mackail-Smith and Whelpdale almost added to the advantage but one goal proved enough for Peterborough.
