Sheffield Wednesday will face Derby County in the Championship this weekend.
Rhodes is injured at the moment, having sprained his ankle during last weekend’s Championship game against Bolton Wanderers away from home at the Macron Stadium.
The 27-year-old striker was taken off on a stretch and left the Macron Stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left ankle, according to The Star.
Wednesday manager Carvalhal has suggested that the Scotland international may not recover in time for the Championship game against Derby at the Pride Park Stadium.
Rhodes made his move to Wednesday permanent in the summer of 2017 after spending the second half of last season on loan at the Owls from Middlesbrough.
Carvalhal has definitively ruled out 32-year-old winger George Boyd from the match against the Rams.
Boyd, who joined Wednesday on a free transfer in the summer transfer window after leaving Burnley, has undergone a second shoulder operation.
“It looked very serious in the game, but after when he had an X-ray and an scan, it was not so serious,” Carvalhal told The Star about Rhodes.
“Definitively, it is not something that will put him out for a long time. We don’t know at this moment if he can recover for Saturday. But if he doesn’t recover, it will be the next game. It is not so serious.”
“After the (first) surgery, George had an examination and not everything was ok with his shoulder,” added Carvalhal about Boyd.
“He had more surgery in the last two weeks and he has come back again to recover. Now we must wait. He has another examination and now he must recover. It will be long weeks.”
