Abstract
IN the elucidation of the mechanism of the reactions between hydrogen peroxide and ferrous and ferric ions, a considerable advance was made by Haber and Weiss2, who suggested that the highly reactive intermediates which have been shown to be present were the radicals HO and HO2. Their mechanisms, recently revised by Weiss2, are as follows:
