Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz was hit in the helmet with a pitch Thursday night. And now he's been placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list, the Phillies have announced.
As a corresponding move, Koyie Hill has been summoned from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Ruiz, 35, is hitting .257/.363/.357 (102 OPS+) with 15 doubles, two homers and 14 RBI this season.
The Phillies have won 11 of their last 17 and are actually only 4.5 games out in the NL East heading into Friday night's game against Atlanta.
