The FEMA Supplemental Response Team (SRT) Program held a 3-day training recently with members of the Cherokee Nation Emergency Incident Management Team (IMT) in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The training was an introduction to the SRT Program and information in preparation for the team to deploy to supplement FEMA disaster operations. While FEMA develops, maintains, and deploys many different partners with all-hazards capabilities, SRTs elevate these efforts by leveraging already established all-hazards incident management teams that have a strong organization structure that allow them to easily adapt to the specific needs of incidents. Additionally, SRTs encourage further relationship building between FEMA and emergency management stakeholders while building their capability, capacity, and resiliency through additional training, exercise, and deployment opportunities. To learn more about the SRT program and teams that participate, email fema-supplemental-response-teams@fema.dhs.gov.
