Researchers from the University of Canberra and the University of South Australia have conducted a study that measures how part of the brain is responsible for idolising loved ones during the honeymoon period of a romance. In the study, published in the open access journal Behavioral Sciences MDPI the researchers investigate the behavioural activation system (BAS) in the brain and how romantic love affects the system. This novel study provides the first evidence that the BAS plays a role in romantic love. It also validates a new method to measure the intensity of romantic love. All articles in the ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information (ISSN 2220-9964) Vol 13, Issue 4, are now freely available to access, read and download: https://brnw.ch/21wK4kd COVER STORY: This study by researchers at the University of Zagreb / Sveučilište u Zagrebu investigated the effectiveness of new point-of-interest pictograms on tourist maps to enhance the tourist experience in urban settings for individuals with specific needs, such as particular dietary, health, and clothing preferences. Six new pictogram designs showing healthcare, food, and apparel were assessed through a questionnaire involving 138 participants of diverse nationalities, ages, and educational backgrounds. The results revealed insights into the subtle cultural and lifestyle influences on pictogram perception. The findings provide a basis for considering the potential of the new pictogram designs in improving navigational experiences with geospatial information and encouraging sustainable tourist behaviors.
