Royal's tribute to Queen Mary for falling 'in love with this sporty Dane' upon 20th wedding anniversary

King Frederik has delivered a speech upon his 20th wedding anniversary with Queen Mary at a gala dinner in Norway that fell on the same day as their 20th wedding anniversary on May 14.
The Danish royals arrived for the white-tie dinner dressed in full regalia.
King Frederik wore his military uniform while Queen Mary chose a lavender gown by Birgit Hallstein, first worn in 2015.

She completed the look by debuting the Pearl Poire tiara, part of the Danish royal jewels and now part of Mary's repertoire following the abdication of Queen Margrethe in Januray.
Frederik, 55, spoke of their relationship with the Norwegian royals.

"Your Majesties, dear Uncle Harald and Aunt Sonja," he began. "Mary and I always look forward to visiting Norway. We 'enjoy ourselves' with you and the Crown Prince Couple, because we are not just neighbors and colleagues, but family and friends.
"Our countries share values, culture and history, and the Danish-Norwegian ties are as strong as few," the Danish king continued.
"Mary and I will do everything in our power, now and in the future, to cherish all that binds us together."
The Danish royals arrived in Norway for an official visit, hosted by King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway, as well as Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, with whom they share a close friendship.

King Frederik as Crown Prince Haakon's best man at his wedding to Mette-Marit in 2001 and the couple are godparents to Frederik and Mary's eldest child, Crown Prince Christian, 18.
Following their arrival Frederik and Mary attended a wreath-laying service to commemorate victims of World War II.
They then visited the Norwegian Parliament before a lunch at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
That evening's gala dinner was held at the the Royal Palace in Oslo.
King Harald also referenced Frederik and Mary's 20th wedding anniversary at the gala dinner.
"Dear Mary, you took on a big task when you went and fell in love with this sporty Dane. You gave up a lot that was safe and familiar. You made Denmark and the Danes your own heartland and heartland.
"I know that you have also been a great support for our beloved Queen Margrethe," Harald said as Frederik and Mary watched on smiling.
"Just today the two of you have been married for 20 years - surely that deserves a round of applause? We think it's very nice that you chose to celebrate your wedding anniversary here with us tonight!"
