This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Administrator access

Steward requests/Permissions/Sysop-header

Maax@sowiki

(Hi my temporary Sysop permission will expire soon, I will like to request additional sysop term thanks.) Maax 14:44, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On hold until 18th January, to give a full week for comments. If there are no objections after this time, we will extend your adminship. PeterSymonds (talk) 14:47, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

krishnaprasaths@ta.wikiquote

Hi, I would become temporary administrator of Tamil-Wikiquote, because now here is since a long time that there are no users who contributing regularly, and furthermore there are no admins, the contrary there is much work and a lot of cleaning to do. There are pages to be deleted, others to move, and the first page has need to be Revised, etc... Then it is important to prevent the first page from other spam editors. Thank-you --krishnaprasath (talk) 16:05, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Leave a note on the community page for that wikiquote (village pump, tavern or whatever is called). Wait for a couple of weeks for opinions, and then post it here. We check that community was informed and then may grant the sysop. es:Magister Mathematicae 16:07, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I posted a notice here. Thank you. --krishnaprasath (talk) 02:44, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
On hold until 15th January, to give a full week for comment. PeterSymonds (talk) 12:08, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bellavista1957@fa.wikisource

Hello, I have been Admin since 16 July 2011 in Wikisource Farsi. I revitalized the Wikisource Project created main page, category system, translated guidance and help system, developed templates, guided new users, corrected pages with mistakes and uploaded thousands of new pages with scans. I would like to further develop Wikisource Farsi. I would like to change my temporary position to permanent. Thank you.----Bellavista1957 12:23, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On hold until 15th January, to give a full week for comment. In the event of no opposition, the number of people active on the request will determine whether your adminship is to be temporary or permanent. PeterSymonds (talk) 12:27, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but according to previous consensus in our small community, only temporary adminship is permitted on Persian Wikisource. AMERICOPHILE 14:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
ps: User:Mardetanha, User:Pedram.salehpoor, User:Bellavista1957 himself, User:Huji, and me voted in favor of temporary adminship unanimously. AMERICOPHILE 14:57, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Citation of this vote is completely misinterpreted. Firstly, I have to inform that Mardetanha and Pedram Salehpoor have a permanent Adminship on Wikisource Farsi. Huji gave up his Adminship on Wikisource Farsi, as he has not been active more than three years and had only 69 edits. Huji is permanent Admin in Wikipedia Farsi. We agreed that concerning Adminship in Wikisource Farsi that inactive admins should be removed from the Admin list as it is in Wikipedia Farsi. Americophile is giving as usual false information, and misuses the language barrier. --Bellavista1957 15:25, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I asked a third party, User:Mehran who is a sysop on Persian Wikipedia, to confirm my statements. You can also use Google translate. I know that it sucks but easy to decipher key information. AMERICOPHILE 15:45, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please explain why you deleted the request? As I said above, the numbers would determine whether the request would be permanent or temporary, so if it is as you say, it wouldn't have been permanent. It only seems fair that this request is restored and the discussion continues for its full duration. Please consider restoring it. Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 14:52, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have deleted nothing, but just put his RfA into a collapsible box temporarily. User:Bellavista1957 has made a request to "extend his Adminship and change its duration from temporary to permanent" while he is not currently an admin and permanent adminship is not allowed on our community. Only decisions made by our community are legitimate and our community has prohibited permanent adminship. Thanks for monitoring the RfA. AMERICOPHILE 15:16, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────┘
Here is where the stewards stand on this issue. Essentially we have to act on what local users decide, which is why our role is somewhat limited. However, we can also act as neutral third parties, and it seems to me that this discussion isn't being conducted in the best way. I would advise that the discussion is uncollapsed, and allowed to run its full course; after its full duration, we can judge consensus. If consensus is in favour, we can grant Bellavista1957 temporary admin rights until the community has a full discussion about allowing permanent adminship. Please consider doing that. Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 16:39, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did what you wanted. AMERICOPHILE 17:03, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was asked to comment here. On the above link, in confirming Americophile, Mardetanha have suggested the temp sysop idea (he have said: "We could generalize the Wikipedia rules here. I oppose to permanent administration. We have two permanent semi-active sysop & one temp sysop here now.") and going on, Pedram.salehpoor and Bellavista1957 and Huji supported that. I have no idea if it's a kind of consensus or not, the project have already two permanent admins and no 'crats notwithstanding. I also think it's better to let the stewards submit the result. With all best. Mehran Debate 17:12, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The title of above mentioned translations is Removal the Access of Inactive Admins. The discussion was about removal Admin access from inactive admins. There has never been a consensus about permanent or temporary Adminship. In fa.Wikipedia as well as in fa.wikisource there are permanent admins. The whole discussion shows the concentrated hate of Americophile against me. Please look at comments Americophile and Hootandolati made in scriptorium fa.wikisource, this Americophile has exceeded all borders of seriousness and respect. I would like to mention both Americophile and Hootandolati have only one single contribution made in Wikisource Farsi, the rest of their time and edits is spent to terrorize me. Have you ever experienced such a voting process? Permanently the Americophile and Hootandolati redesigning the structure and look of the voting page. The page is full of defamation and slander. --Bellavista1957 10:47, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Riemogerz@bjn.wiki

rieMOGerz 10:51, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please start a discussion locally about this, on a community page such as the village pump or the local equivalent. If there are no objections after a week, we will grant you temporary adminship. PeterSymonds (talk) 10:56, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat access

Steward requests/Permissions/Crat-header

Arjunaraoc@tewiki

As the current Bureaucrats of Telugu Wikipedia are inactive for close to an year and attempts to contact them are not successful, the request is being filed here. I request similar Bureaucrat access to all Telugu Wiki projects, as I am working to improve the Telugu Wiki Community. Arjunaraoc 11:08, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It seems you have 6 votes in favor and none to oppose. But currently stewards do not grant bureaucrat access to users who have less than 15 supports in favor. Of course, if the local bureaucrat wants to promote an user, it's up to him or her and the community. But for stewards its different. This thing is being discussed on Meta now. If the community is small stewards are always here to assist for bureaucrat help. Regards, — Tanvir | Talk ] 11:17, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have extended the voting deadline till Jan 22 2012 to get additional support votes. I will revert once the deadline is completed.--Arjunaraoc 12:53, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
 On hold till January 22, 2012. — Tanvir | Talk ] 09:33, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Aidabishkek@kywiki

This wiki has no bureaucrats, we cannot help this wiki without bureaucrats and request page is not exist on that wiki, the request is being filed here. I nominated him for bureaucratship because there are no administrators to be hired. IluvLovato123 12:13, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

? Where is the discussion? Who voted and when? Have you even asked the user whether they want the flag? Seb az86556 12:30, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This user is sometimes logged in, and s/he is a native Kyrgyz speaker, you may contact him and wait for the reply. --IluvLovato123 14:55, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The requesting user is a known cross-wiki troublemaker, or better said, one account more of him and as such has been blocked. There's no vote, no community notice, nothing. This is not done. Please stop wasting the comunities' time. Thanks. —Marco Aurelio (Nihil Prius Fide) 20:16, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Request page Aidabishkek 20:36, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Now that the interested user has just opened a discussion page, status changed to "on hold" until 14.01.2012; to allow for community comments. —Marco Aurelio (Nihil Prius Fide) 20:43, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comp1089@ba.wikipedia

Hello, after we have accepted the new local policy (requirements, ba only) about bureaucrats of Bashkir Wikipedia, the community suggested that I should be promoted to bureaucrat. You can see the voting link above. Comp1089 09:05, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On hold pending identification. PeterSymonds (talk) 13:20, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, when Philippe will add your username here you'll be given with checkuser access. --Vituzzu 21:04, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oversight access

To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or email oversight-l@lists.wikimedia.org for requests regarding English Wikipedia. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.

Stewards
Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
 • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>

Please, can you remove my sysop tools on fr.wikipedia.org. Ludo29 13:44, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You also have oversight rights there. Do you want them also removed? —Marco Aurelio (Nihil Prius Fide) 15:28, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you can juste remove the sysop tools, it's right. If not, remove all them. Ludo29 15:34, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Reading the oversight policy I see no mentions that an oversighter must be a sysop in the relevant project. Having read fr:Wikipédia:Masqueur de modifications I can't see that either. So Done - but I bet your work would be a bit difficult w/o the hability of viewing deleted revisions and so on. Thanks. —Marco Aurelio (Nihil Prius Fide) 15:42, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Note: just to be sure I've consulted the French Wiki ArbCom. Waiting for its answer. —Marco Aurelio (Nihil Prius Fide) 17:00, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some users have resigned their admin rights after requesting de-admin because of inactivity, see project page. I'm going to remove the rights. a×pdeHello! 21:56, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Does it make sense to remove sysops on test wikis? Ruslik 14:30, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
IMHO extended rights and always connected to extended duties, and there are two main reasons for deadministration:
 1. If an account with extended rights is not observed it might be hacked. With those extended rights the hacker is able to do a lot more havoc than a standard account. And testwikis have only very little to no users checking recentchanges!
 2. Any user on those testwikis might be in need of help. They find dozens of admins and expect to get quick answers to their requests and might be disappointed if there's no response.
