IN ENGLISH

Greetings, I would like to continue protecting and expanding this wiki to the best of my abilities. I have been made a sysop here for more than 4 times, first was a month trial, then a 3 month, a year and so forth. I would like to have permanent adminiship.
LITTLE BACKGROUND
When I joined this wiki, it only had few articles (around 300), of which 95% were written mostly by editors who did not or knew little about the language. When I became active and woke the wiki up, I

  • created hundreds, thousands of articles
  • localised all the templates and modules into local language.
  • had came up with the idea of the need for this wiki to have its own wiki logo in its language. I requested it on meta by contacting @User:Goran tek-en who created it (and to whom the credit goes) and wiki logo is found here. Request was here.
  • transformed the dull home UI (User Interface) into catchy and beautiful style to attract natives that the wiki is actually alive and kicking.
  • created loads of automatic home templates that change each day with new content.
  • translated the entire wiki alone into local as it was not yet translated.
  • uploaded local media found in local areas of interest to the language.
  • contacted Wikimedia technical team to add Tumbuka language to the list of wikis with Machine Translation. See here.

It is also important to note that I was not alone on the journey. I also had to seek help from User:Caro de Segeda who helped to create thousands of articles and hundreds of templates. User:CubanoBoi helped create alot of articles and customised maps, templates. Other users who played major roles include all other natives such as User:Anthonymunthali44 among others. On translatewiki, I had help from User:Amire80 who walked me through during the translating process, as well as @User:Ferien who had been correcting me in my earliest days.
So I would like to have permanent administrator rights in order to keep on protecting the wiki and fighting against vandalism, among other areas. If anyone contradicts with this, please comment below. Thank you.Tumbuka Arch 07:03, 27 Epulelo 2024 (UTC)[zgola]

Sign up for the language community meeting on May 31st, 16:00 UTC lemba

Hello all,

The next language community meeting is scheduled in a few weeks - May 31st at 16:00 UTC. If you're interested, you can sign up on this wiki page.

This is a participant-driven meeting, where we share language-specific updates related to various projects, collectively discuss technical issues related to language wikis, and work together to find possible solutions. For example, in the last meeting, the topics included the machine translation service (MinT) and the languages and models it currently supports, localization efforts from the Kiwix team, and technical challenges with numerical sorting in files used on Bengali Wikisource.

Do you have any ideas for topics to share technical updates related to your project? Any problems that you would like to bring for discussion during the meeting? Do you need interpretation support from English to another language? Please reach out to me at ssethi(__AT__)wikimedia.org and add agenda items to the document here.

We look forward to your participation!

Feedback invited on Procedure for Sibling Project Lifecycle lemba

You can find this message translated into additional languages on Meta-wiki. Please help translate to your language

Dear community members,

The Community Affairs Committee (CAC) of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees invites you to give feedback on a draft Procedure for Sibling Project Lifecycle. This draft Procedure outlines proposed steps and requirements for opening and closing Wikimedia Sibling Projects, and aims to ensure any newly approved projects are set up for success. This is separate from the procedures for opening or closing language versions of projects, which is handled by the Language Committee or closing projects policy.

You can find the details on this page, as well as the ways to give your feedback from today until the end of the day on June 23, 2024, anywhere on Earth.

You can also share information about this with the interested project communities you work with or support, and you can also help us translate the procedure into more languages, so people can join the discussions in their own language.

On behalf of the CAC,
