At the halfway point of 2023, we thought we’d take a look back on the past 6 months at OIC and some highlights. These include: ✅ Educated agencies on when they should and shouldn’t share personal information in an emergency ✅ Celebrated Data Privacy Week, Safer Internet Day, Open Data Day, National Reconciliation Week ✅ Held online and face-to-face training covering privacy and Right to Information ✅ Engaged public sector and community through our Privacy Awareness Week campaign (including holding a keynote speaker event + panel) ✅ Increased awareness around ways to better protect personal information ✅ Encouraged agencies to do privacy self-assessments to ensure compliance with legislation

GDPR should be the template for aussies, propper privacy comes with considerations such as cookies, consent. Dinosaurs who have governance experience best not apply. Considerations only for data holders/vendors that are not limited or enforced are a waste of RED TAPE. Data leaking and third party agreements should be on the table.
