The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) has become like a family for Colombian student Jenny. Not only is Jenny learning vital English skills in a welcoming environment, but she’s also developing friendships and gaining useful knowledge to help her settle into Australian life, and achieve her dreams of working as a nurse here. Learning English with the AMEP has never been easier with a range of flexible learning options including online, full time, part-time, evening and weekend classes. Free childcare is available for children under school age when you are participating in a face-to-face AMEP class. Find out how you can learn English with the AMEP at https://lnkd.in/gGsh4r7X.

The free AMEP program is a wonderful way to help newly arrived immigrants fulfil their potential as Australian residents and future citizens. What is extraordinary however is that education support for children with disabilities is assessed under the migration health requirement as a community cost - not, like AMEP, as a community investment. Education for anyone should be recognised as an investment in any individual’s - and hence the national - potential.
