We’re delighted to share that ‘Van B’ residences in Munich are complete! Our design, in collaboration with Bauwerk, not only caters to changing demographics and multiple family constellations, it offers indoor-outdoor living, communal spaces, shared facilities and a new highly flexible plug-in system that can make a 40m2 apartment feel like a 60m2 loft.   Our video takes you inside the building to experience the apartments themselves. We are delighted to share that Garett Hwang, Director of UNStudio, will be a keynote speaker at this year’s The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) Annual Conference on this Friday, June 14, at 14:00. She will be presenting on ‘Design in the Digital and AI Era-is this the end or just the beginning…’ alongside other experts and leaders from the academia, design, technology and digital design industries.   The conference, with the theme of “Design in the Digital and AI Era”, aims to delve into the evolving responsibilities of architects amidst the pervasive influence of artificial intelligence on the architectural practice. Key themes to be explored include the impact of AI on design, construction, urban environment and related industries as well as the application of AI and digital technology in present and future architectural workflows. The IJbaan Cable Car, commissioned by the Stichting IJbaan and now supported by the City of Amsterdam, is designed by UNStudio to be a new urban feature. It will be Amsterdam's fast, green and future-proof public transport link across the IJ River! The one-and-a-half-kilometre cable car line is a clean and fast public transport link between two growing residential areas: Amsterdam-West and Amsterdam-Noord / NDSM. The design consists of three slender pylons and two stations: NDSM Marina on the north shore and Minervahaven on the south shore. While enriching the Amsterdam skyline, the masts are not visible from the famous canal ring in Amsterdam’s city centre. As such, the cable car’s towers will allow the dense urban area of Amsterdam to expand, while being respectful of the city’s past. Open Ecosystem, designed in collaboration with ESTEYCO and b720 Fermin Vazquez Arquitectos, envisions the Chamartin Clara Campoamor station in Madrid becoming an iconic and vibrant destination for locals and visitors alike. The new Chamartin station will be at the heart of Spain’s transition towards sustainable mobility and the main destination within one of the biggest and most ambitious urban developments in Europe - Madrid Nuevo Norte. The design for the remodeled stations is set to be an integrated hub in which nature, communities and economies thrive, bringing new ways of moving, working and socialising to this under-utilised part of the city. The opening event of our joint exhibition TRANSFORM with Zumtobel Lighting in Warsaw was a great success! We are grateful to everyone who attended the event and shared their thoughts on the theme of Transformation, which has always been a central focus here at UNStudio. We would like to thank our event partner Instytut Wzornictwa Przemysłowego and ULI Poland/Czech Republic for their effort in making this exhibition impactful, thank you Ewelina Jablonska for organizing the opening event, as well as all the expert panelists Jarosław Fiutowski, Monika Konrad, Sara Konardi, Marta Sękulska-Wrońska and moderator Kamil Maciejczyk, who provided a profound reflection on the implication ad solutions for the transformation that architectural practices is facing, both environmentally and socially.
