Some great insights into slowing aging and leading a healthy life. Midway into my 60s, I am definitely feeling the passage of time and an aging body.
I definitely think radical life extension for those who want it is not too far away in the future. I think Clement's understanding about our body and maximizing health are second to none.
Seeing the names of the folks who have reviewed and endorsed this book has also impressed the heck out of me: George Church, David Sinclair, David Perlmutter, Dave Asprey, Durk Pearson, Steve Horvath, and many others.
I definitely plan on sending copies to friends and family members.
I have adopted some of his recommendations and noticed certain improvements, but the proof will be when I get tested, which haven't done yet due to this stupid virus shutdown.
Your cells have a master switch controlling growth and repair versus damage removal. To make new repairs you must remove old damage. Years of buildup of un-repaired damage can promote cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, adult onset diabetes, and aging itself. “The Switch” tells you how you can flip your switch to slow and even partially reverse your aging. These do it yourself anti-aging methods are simple, safe, inexpensive, scientifically sound, and include 23 pages of scientific literature citations.

The real title of this book is "THE SWITCH”, which explains two important processes that affect aging, one that promotes growth and largely speeds aging, while the other promotes waste removal, which is necessary for repair, and slows aging. With extensive documentation, the book shows how you can help decide which process is predominant at what time. This is the practical scientific approach for taking advantage of the switch.

Obviously the main point of the book is the switch - mTOR and authopagy.
The book is big on intermittent fasting and keto diet.
Chapter 9 is extremely useful: it has practical recommendations about what to eat or not to eat to implement the ideas explained earlier.
I think it is the most impactful book I read in the last couple of years. It is going to make a difference in my life, as I am going to incorporate many of its ideas.
"It pains me to watch someone order a plateful of fluffy buttermilk pancakes doused with lots of syrup and a side of bacon, followed by an order of cheesy pizza. Yes, I have witnessed this, and all I see is diabetes on a plate with heart disease for dessert. We deserve better."
So true, unfortunately.
