Are your patients considering a trip to perform Hajj or Umrah? Recent cases of meningococcal disease have occurred among travelers who performed Umrah in Saudi Arabia. Protect your patients: ☑️ Make sure they’re up to date on all routine and travel-related vaccines, including meningococcal (MenACWY) vaccine. MenACWY vaccine is needed at least 10 days before arriving in Saudi Arabia for Umrah or Hajj. ☑️ Because of known antibiotic resistance, preferentially consider use of antibiotics other than ciprofloxacin for prophylaxis of close contacts of meningococcal disease cases linked to travel to Saudi Arabia. Read the latest MMWR for more details about the recent cases and prophylaxis recommendations: https://bit.ly/mm7322e1
