For me it’s the greatest showman. Dunno if it was the same in the states but here in the Uk everybody n their dog was raving about it saying it was the best musical ever.

It’s meh.

The greatest showman was such a weird movie for me

I absolutely enjoyed every second of it because the cast was really entertaining to watch most times but it really felt like there were like 8 conflicts in the movie and they all get solved by a song that shows up immediately after the conflict happens (or the conflict is introduced and ends in the same song so it's like why even fucking bother lmao)

It’s the best musical created for movie audiences who don’t like stage musicals all that much.

I completely understand why some people don't like it. But for me the entertainment factor outweighs it's shortcomings. To me it's just a fun movie to watch.

I don't think it's the best, but it's fun

All the songs had some kind of Uncanny Valley effect on me.
Like my brain is repeatedly finding a match for a song that it sounds like, and identifying it as a poor implementation.

For example: the opening went "This is that song Imagine Dragons keeps singing, they aren't doing it as well as Imagine Dragons"

This YouTube video does a pretty harsh (but fair) takedown of it that you might enjoy!

Man, I thought I was crazy when I watched that movie on the recommendation of my sister in law. The cinematography was mediocre and the songs were gratingly anachronistic. The dancing was decent but that wasn't enough to make it at all good.

The character the movie is based upon (P.T.Barnum) is a POS who used other people for his financial gain without giving a damn about their lives, the movie tries way too hard to be PC by inserting things and details that never happened, and it's way too unrealistic. I get that's how musical movies work but damn. Knowing P.T.Barnum's history, I was kinda ticked off after the movie ended.

Yeah, it's frustrating because they could have just used the same (pretty solid) soundtrack to make a movie not about a raging asshole. Then they would have had a nice little fantasy period piece about some fictional dude who was way ahead of his time

It would have been way more fun to watch without trying to constantly forget all the crazy awful shit P.T. Barnum actually did.
