LOS ANGELES, June 12 (UPI)—Chuck Berry, the rock singer, pleaded guilty today to charges that he evaded paying nearly $110,000 in income taxes in 1973.

Mr. Berry, who was indicted last month by a St. Louis Federal grand jury, entered the plea before United States District Court Judge Harry Pregerson.

The 52‐year‐old singer, who decided to plead guilty in Los Angeles rather than go on trial in his hometown of St. Louis, admitted having reported a joint income with his wife in 1973 of $374,982,
