In this work, a cost-effective sine pulse-width modulation (SPWM) control of an inverter has been implemented using Arduino UNO microcontroller, which can be used with various power stages. The proposed model is focused on power electronics training or learning. It allows users to practice the control of an inverter without the need to be in a face-to-face laboratory. The proposed model facilitates remote experimentation to acquire the required knowledge or competencies.

Visual block programming environments can be defined as those programming environments that rely on objects rather than words to code the program. These types of environments are characterized by facilitating the task of the people who carry out the programs. This is mainly since they are more visually friendly. In addition, with this type of environment the person who makes the programs will not get the famous syntactic errors that characterize the programming tasks with textual programming languages. Along this paper, a set of tools commonly used in educational robotics are showed. Furthermore, a deep analysis in two of these tools are detailed. Additionally, some educational scenarios are detailed, as long as their relationship to students’ competencies and how to drive the scenarios in order to accomplish with the competencies. Finally, a study of the results from experience is included.

This paper presents an extension of the VISIR Remote Laboratory to support the IoT Technologies. By means of this new extension, the users of the remote laboratory can experiment by programming an ARM device (a raspberry Pi) and interact with sensors and actuators. Furthermore, all the characteristics of VISIR are still preserved. Therefore, the user can wire in the breadboard their circuits including sensors and actuators and interact with the instrumentation. On the other hand, a Raspberry Pi OS (Raspbian) complete remote desktop is available as an instrument more of VISIR.

Two types of teaching coexist today: traditional face-to-face methods and teaching based on self-learning where the student has ubiquitous access to course contents. This paper shows how tests have been made of a type of learning that is becoming more common in educational environments. This hybrid teaching method combines the Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) and students’ face-to-face work. On the one hand, the advantages of face-to-face learning are taken advantage of: teacher in the classroom, social bonds and daily work sessions. On the other hand, the advantages of distance learning are integrated: flexibility, accessible material and wide variety. Also included in the paper is a description of the equipment and the way in which it has been used with students. Finally, the paper details the educational experience carried out with students and the outcomes obtained. These pilot tests are framed within the education of STEM topics and robotics.

Short Description-The aim of this paper is to introduce the use of Arduino, an established tool in the development of applications and deployment of educational content, as of a course related to the introduction to robotics. Robotics requires several skills and competencies that can be easily developed with tools like Arduino. These skills and competencies are related to the areas of knowledge used for the development of robotic applications, such as computer science, electricity, electronics and mechanics. Throughout this paper we present Arduino, the resources used for the deployment of the course and the results obtained from the educational experiences carried out. The results of the educational robotics course demonstrate how children with previous experience in Scratch programming, skills and competencies with simple Crumble-based robots can continue the learning process through classroom experiences using Arduino. In this way, students can improve skills and competencies already worked with tools such as Scratch and Crumble. Another important observation from the results is that it is important to adapt the difficulty of the content to each child. Finally, it is important to combine theory and practice to include fun and intertwined tasks with the challenges of applying theory to problem solving.

ABSTRACT The presented document introduces the work carried out in the management of digital information as learning objects. To introduce the full process done over the original documentation, some stages like recovery, manipulation, unification, labeling, and processing of digital files have been implemented. The developed process has been deployed for the management and organization of education and engineering conferences TAEE (Technologies Applied to Electronics Teaching) and EDUCON (IEEE Education Conference). The developed process has consisted of the creation of digital objects and documents and the use of those created in order to use them through educational scopes. Some work in relation to the labeling of those objects has been based on the generation of XML definition files attached to the digital objects. Once a set of data- metadata has been implemented, the spread of the collected and indexed information through? multiple environments is possible. Thus, these units of information let the implementation of web environments, the study and analysis of their contents and the creation of file structures for their upload in repositories in a massive way. As such, the institutional repository e-Spacio UNED from the Spanish University for Distance Education has been selected to hold contain the mentioned structure of files.

ABSTRACT In Universities and other academic organizations have been saying that the number of students in Engineering masters and grades have been reduced. That means that fewer people will be working as engineers in the future. This is a fact that has alarmed Education Societies and Engineering Associations all over the world. Some reasons could be extracted from some loss of motivation when student looks at a difficult career, in spite of promising great labor expectations exposed from the Society. However, in this paper, some data are offered to change minds about this question, in particular in the case os Spain. Through the article, some figures have been used to get some conclusions in which demographic statistics, students' decisions and University published information could give an answer to the question, why do students demand other nonengineering careers? Is this true or just a myth?
