Physics can build a better world - and it's the people working in #physics who make that better world a reality. We launched the Physics Inclusion Award yesterday which was designed in partnership with the physics community to ensure that everyone in physics is welcomed and supported. This blog by Prof Nicola Wilkin PFHEA FInstP, Professor of Physics at the University of Birmingham and Chair of the Physics Inclusion Award Steering Group, and IOP's Head of EDI Sarah Bakewell, explains why and how we developed and launched the Award. To realise the incredible potential physics offers society, we need a growing, diverse, sustainable physics community which drives the physics of today and attracts the generation of tomorrow. That's why we're excited to launch the new Physics Inclusion Award, which has been developed alongside the physics community to welcome and support people from all backgrounds to thrive in our brilliant field. The Award is the successor to our highly respected Juno Award and aims to support university physics departments, where many physicists study, teach and research, to be welcoming and inclusive to those from all backgrounds.
