The time spent making the box is what the gift recipient appreciates the most. Plus, I had a lot of fun putting it together.I gave a 4/5 because several of the papers arrived bent/folded and I had to creatively hide the creases.I saw many reviews saying it was hard to put together. I disagree. I did struggle with one of them, but the rest were simple and straightforward. (I used the link to find the YouTube video for the one I struggled with.)If you're wondering about additional costs:I ordered photos from Bartells and they were 19 cents each. I ended up paying no more than $5 for the prints.Also, a smaller box is included for an additional gift. It's good for a keychain or anything small. I personally bought a Seahawks bottle opener card that is standard credit card size. It fit diagonally in the box.

Photo Explosion Box with 100+ photos!

I did this project with my 13 yo granddaughter as a surprise gift for her parents. They loved it! She also created this video to share the fun with everyone :) I am so proud of her! Creating the Photo Explosion Box made for a lot of memorable quality time together, and now we all have it as a wonderful keepsake. It took us 4 days of about 5-6 hours a day to complete.

Supplies and Method used:

We used 4x5.3 photos which I purchased from Amazon (also a great experience!) We didn’t use all the cards in the kit mainly because I wanted to trim the photos as little as possible. The entire project was put together using lots of 1/4” double sided tape which held everything together instantly and with much sturdier results than I expected. We put all the main body (black side pieces) together using the tape top and bottom to give the box the added strength of tape-to-tape bonding. We also placed the tape in full length pieces close to the edges and in tight rows of three or more deep. I was very impressed that there wasn’t any bulging in the corners, especially considering the large number of photos we used - and we could have easily fit more! I believe the strength of the build, plus large photo sizes added to the positive overall durability.

In addition to the kit contents we added textured cardstock, 4 adult coloring book pages, and scrapbook supplies.

We are very very happy with the results so much that I’m looking forward to making at least 2 more with my other 12-14 y/o grandchildren for their families!

This was a challenge, my first time doing something like this for a very special person, (my 12 year old sister) she said it was her BEST present I could ever give her. I gave her 40 small snack Hot Cheetos and this Explosion Box and she LOVED it more, than her favorite hot cheetos lol.
