Music Performed During Halftime Show Climbing Up Spotify, iTunes Charts

Music from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Eminem earned three of the top 10 spots on Spotify’s chart of the Top Songs in the U.S., a day after the songs were performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. 

Key Facts

On Monday, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s “Still D.R.E” was the number two streamed song on Spotify in the U.S., garnering over 1 million streams. 

“The Next Episode,” also from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, earned the number five spot on the chart, getting nearly 800,000 streams; Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” garnered over 650,000 streams, earning it the number nine spot; 2 Pac and Dr. Dre’s “California Love,” which was performed by Dre and Snoop during the halftime show, ranked 20th.

Almost every other song performed during the halftime show ranked on Spotify’s chart: 50 Cent’s “In The Club” ranked 31st, Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” ranked 32nd and Mary J. Blige’s “Family Affair” ranked 81st. 

Other songs from the halftime artists that weren’t performed during the event earned spots throughout the top 50: Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” ranked 16th, Eminem and Dr. Dre’s “Forget about Dre” ranked 19th, Eminem’s “Without Me” ranked 29th, Lamar’s “Humble” ranked 34th and Eminem and Nate Dogg’s “‘Til I Collapse” ranked 41st. 

The iTunes chart was dominated by Super Bowl halftime show music on Monday and Tuesday: Eight of the Top 10 songs Tuesday were performed during the halftime show or from the artists who did. 

The halftime show was the top trending video on Youtube Tuesday and has already garnered over 36 million views.

On Sunday, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and surprise performer 50 Cent took to the stage at SoFi Stadium to deliver a tribute to the LA rap and hip hop scene. Viewership of the halftime show, which reached 29 million U.S. households according to Samba TV, increased 19% compared to last year, when The Weeknd was the sole performer.
