Instagram for Windows Phone has barely been updated since it was first released almost two and a half years ago without video support. Instagram users on Windows Phone have turned to third-party alternatives to upload their videos, but today they're finally getting the update they deserve. Facebook is launching Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile, and it includes video support and access to Instagram's direct messages.

The big app update brings it inline with the same versions available on iOS and Android. Instagram has also added access to its Explore feature and account switching, so Windows Phone users won't feel like they're being left behind anymore. While the app is being updated today, you'll need Windows 10 Mobile to take advantage of it. Microsoft is currently in the process of upgrading existing devices, and you can check to see if your Lumia is ready by downloading the Upgrade Advisor app from the Windows Store. Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile is rolling out today in Microsoft's Windows Store.
