About the author
My name is Grandpa Neil, and I am a Great-Great-Grandfather who has been blessed with a long life, good health, and a loving family that includes children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and now a great-great-grandchild. I am filled with gratitude for my life and family, and I want to share my experience and enthusiasm with other grandparents.
Every day, I wake up feeling energized and eager to spread positivity and joy wherever I go. As a professional public speaker, youth advocate, and published author of three books on grandparenting and almost 400 articles on the two websites Caring Grandparent and Good To Great Grandparenting.
I am committed to helping other grandparents be the best they can be.
Thank you for being a Caring Grandparent. Grandpa NEIL

Then, when I read this in Chapter 2, I felt a little better: "If you are having difficulty seeing your grandchildren, the first (and second) option should be to attempt to negotiate and mediate a compromise with the parents."
As I read on, I began to feel more confident that this book paints a realistic picture of why, when, and how grandparents can go about obtaining court-ordered visitation rights. Taft is clear though out the book (not just in Chapter 2) that the court should be the last resort and even goes so far as to remind grandparents that if they suspect abuse, their first obligation is to contact the authorities, not file for custody!
To give you a better idea of the contents and depth of this book, here are the chapter titles:
An Overview of Grandparents' Rights
Grandparents Visitation: Answers You Need
Grandparents Custody: Questions You Need to Ask, and Answers
How to Hire an Attorney
Evidence and How to Gather It
What a Court Considers When Awarding Grandparents' Rights
A General Courtroom Primer
Best Practices: Avoiding the Courtroom
Grandparents Guardianship
The Case for Grandparents' Rights
Caring Grandparents: Additional Best Practices
The Troxell Decision
New Grandparents
Caring Grandparents: Resources
I hope that if you think you need this book you are able to work something out without using the court system, but it seems as if this book can help you look realistically at your situation to decide if that is what you need to do to pursue visitation or custodial rights.
