50 Pearls of Wisdom: Everything You Need to Know to Be the Perfect Mother of the Bride Paperback – November 15, 2013
by Helen Greer (Author)
Helen Greers new book, 50 Pearls of Wisdom is set to help women everywhere be the perfect mother of the bride.Being the perfect mother of the bride isnt easy. In fact, there are days when it can seem absolutely impossible. Up until now there has been very little advice available to the mother of the bride. The main focus and advice is mainly given to the daughter as her special day approaches. While this is understandable, without her mother, the brides day wouldnt run quite so smoothly. Helen Greer was inspired to write 50 Pearls of Wisdom after her own mother of the bride experiences. She recalls:There were times when I felt so frustrated because I just didnt know what was expected of me. I researched online and found very little information available. It was a stressful time and it made me want to share my new found knowledge so other women wouldnt find it as draining as I did. The book focuses on everything from choosing the right outfit to dealing with daughter melt downs and socialising with the in-laws. Separated into small snippets, its easy to flick through and find tips as and when you need them. The last thing you want when youre stressed is to read through long paragraphs until you find the information you need. This book is designed to be a helpful guide you can call upon whenever you get stuck. If youre looking to be the perfect mother of the bride, 50 Pearls of Wisdom can help. No longer will you be left wondering what is expected of you or how you should handle a certain situation. The book contains real advice from somebody who has been there and who has gained insider knowledge on what is expected of you. Its a book that every mother of the bride should own.

About the Author
Helen Greer is a keen writer, cook and gardener, born and raised in the small village of Walkington. Now residing in the nearby town of Beverley with her husband, she loves nothing more than to walk her two Labradors, Nell and Angus, over the local Westwood. She spends a lot of time writing for a local free press on her experiences of village life, rural culture and planting seasons. Very much a strong part of the local community, she enjoys sharing her knowledge to help others. Proud mother to two adult daughters and a son currently studying his PhD, Helen decided to pen '50 Pearls of Wisdom' thanks to her own 'mother of the bride' experiences. What should have been a happy occasion turned into months of frustration. She simply didn't know what was expected of her. After researching online, she found she certainly wasn't alone. What should you wear? How should you deal with a daughter who turns into bridezilla? How do you handle meeting the in-laws? All of these were burning questions in Helen's mind. 50 Pearls of Wisdom was created to help women everywhere understand what is expected of them on their daughter's special day.

I was expecting informative pages at least the size of a paperback novel! This came in the mail just the other day and it took me less than 1/2 hour to read what appeared to be all common sense information. I did not learn anything new. Rehearsal dinner?? (for example. who is responsible for that) It seems as though the book was written and going by the rules from another country (Europe, maybe) US rehearsals for weddings is just once, the day before the wedding. ?? I found the book to be a $12.00 rip-off!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Although I am not a mother (yet) I was so intrigued by the title- and the price made it tough to resist. It had so many, well, pearls of wisdom that I think anyone who is or knows a mother of a bride to be should immediately buy this book. There are all kinds of wonderful tips-#9 was my favorite: avoid prints like the plague (too funny and too true); there are also ones that are not funny at all yet very true and should absolutely be followed such as #24: (paraphrased) getting a loan is a bad idea. I think this is a guide that all mothers would really appreciate simply because it takes all the guess work out of the equation and makes it crystal clear what is her responsibilities as a mom and what it is not. It is a book that will be cherished and even could be passed down from generation to generation- maybe even be the "something old" gift to your own daughter for her daughter's wedding. I definitely think this is a sound and wise investment for all mothers of a bride, a guide you will turn to time and again during the planning and preparation of your daughter's wedding. Beautifully done!

Easy read, good, solid advise. Contains some practical information on current trends versus old traditions.

Don't waste your money. I read the book in five minutes. Very outdated. Not one useful tip

This book is tiny, more like a leaflet! Very confused as to why it costs so much. Pretty disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed

I brought this for a gift and was so disappointed when it arrived. It is a very thin booklet and really not worth what I paid
for it. I would have felt half the price was too much
