GRAND CANYON FLIGHTS & AIR TOURS

Helicopter Tours

Grand Canyon helicopters depart daily from Las Vegas, NV, and South Rim, AZ.

Only Las Vegas helicopters go to the bottom of the Canyon and both Vegas and the South Rim offer air/ground packages.

There are standard & deluxe tours. The basic tour is your cheapest option. Personally, I prefer deluxe tours, especially if you are going from Vegas.

I say this because Vegas deluxe helicopters leave from The Strip and include chauffeured limousine service and a tour over Las Vegas Boulevard.

Moreover, all deluxe tours, whether from Las Vegas or the South Rim/Tusayan, use the EcoStar 130 helicopter, which is far superior to the Bell Ranger or the A-Star used on basic flights.

What makes the EcoStar so great is that it's equipped with a 180-degree wraparound windshield and stadium-style bucket seats. These two features combine to offer you the best views possible.

Airplane Tours

Grand Canyon airplane tours leave from Las Vegas, NV, and Grand Canyon National Park Airport at South Rim, AZ.

Only Las Vegas airplane tours land at Grand Canyon. South Rim plane tours are air-only.

Las Vegas has the greatest assortment of airplane tours. Air only is your cheapest option and a great Canyon sampler if you have limited time.

Personally, I prefer tours that include a landing. You can select from ones that land on the top of the West Rim and extend them to include a helicopter ride to the bottom and a boat ride on the Colorado River.

Airplanes fly to the Canyon faster than helicopters but do so at a higher altitude.

Airplane tours are a great value and are cheaper than helicopter tours. This is because they hold up to 19 people, so there are more seats to fill (helicopters hold 6 passengers).
